10 24 – 11 07 Seed-Month or Hallowmonth: First Fortnight (ca. October 24 – November 7)
SEED-MONTH or HALLOWMONTH
(Blue Realm of URIEL)
Here we enter Primordial Sagittarius, the Realm of Mutable Fire, or Soul Saining (Fire-Hallows); the Blue Realm of the Archangel URIEL, administered by the Deans of St. Uriel’s Cinquefoil Garden: the Right Honorable White Cinquefoil Bacchic Virtue (5:0), and the Right Honorable Black Cinquefoil Bacchic Elemental Limoniad (5:13). It is also the Realm of our Demiurge the Planter, the Divine Sex Chakra of the God, represented by the Mutable King and Queen of Arms: the Viscount Grand Garden Archmaster of the Azure Pestle (0:5), and the Viscountess Grand Garden Arch-Mastress of the Azure Thunderbolt (13:5). The Planter is Ju, Jowe, Jowwan, Indra, Andrew, Awzhur, Osiris, Wadjur, Bacchus, the Dark Father.
This month rules the Sacrament of the Third Confirmation or Saining, when the seventy-year-old Candidate is given the Soul-Hallows.
A Chant for Uriel:
Down in the Hallowtide Garden of Dreams,
Nothing is shallow nor hard as it seems;
I built a rare bower of all the fair flowers,
For keeping us warm in the evening hours;
A Columbine cellar and Violet sills,
Dormers of Absinthe and Daffodils;
Cornflower tables and Lavender halls,
[or … Thistledown halls]
Doorways of Lotus in Quatrefoil walls;
Trefoil gables and Rose window-panes,
Fleur-de-Lys thatching to catch all the rains;
A Sunflower chimney uncharred in its seams,
Down in the Hallowtide Garden of Dreams.

(or: A-B-B-e-d-c-d-e-c-A; A-A-A-B-B-e-d-c-d-e; c-A-A-A-A-B-B-e-d-c; d-e-c-A-A-A-A-B-B-e; etc.; the whole sequence being A-A-B-B-e-d-c-d-e-c-A-A, with only 10 of these 12 played in each phrase, which continues where the last leaves off. The formula for this sequence is derived from the A-A-B-B-C-C &c. rhyme scheme, rearranging it to the order of the flowers’ ruling planets in the days of the week.)

OCTOBER 24-26; 8:00 – 8:10 p.m. (C.C.) Maturation of Violet-Red Forester; (I.C.) Death of Yellow-Green Enchanter
The Feast of the Causal Angel of the Thistle, Sage, and Wisteria: The Violet-Red Forester enters the Realm of Archangel URIEL. She now attains Her 8th Annular Degree, and is to be Grove Mastress, of the Foresters’ 4th (armiger) subcaste. Her Quest is to merge with the Tree of the Planter, symbolized by St. Andrew, the Tree-Consciousness of the Flowering Herb of Growth, and give the Tree to Uriel in exchange for the Forester’s Flower. The drama is enacted by the Viscountess (Grand Grove Arch-Mastress) Prelate of the Murrey Chalice and the Viscount (Grand Grove Arch-Master) Prelate of the Axe, who lead the new Grove Masters into the Cinquefoil Garden of St. Uriel. They offer the Tree of the Planter (Blue Oak, Ivy, Reed, etc.) to the Deans of St. Uriel’s as toll, and receive the Forester’s Flowers (Thistles, Wisteria, etc.) as token of admission.

[Thistle]!)
Deans’ Response (Book of Lights V:8):
0: This Virtue is the Child of Our Buddhic Archangel URIEL, Blossom of the World, and of Our Inner Spiritual Forester. 1: His roundel is Blue, and His body is Violet-Red; 2: His name is Uriel Hieroshulu’ia; is Euruchush; is Rushwanh; is Uejuerchu; 3: He bestows Seminal Growth through Communal Receptivity; 4: He protects Jur Churai, the Magenta Tower of the Blue Isle; 5: He grows the subtle flower of the loins and left knee of the Bacchanalian Planter for Merchantry, the Garden Fellow; 6: He makes the WISTERIA and THISTLE; 7: He shapes the OCTAFOIL; 8: He tends the subtle fruit of the head and left eye of the Earthly Planter for Sagery, the Grand Garden Master; 9: In the Converse Calendar, He tends from 8:00 to 8:10 p.m., and sows the first duodecimal of Seedmonth, ca. October 24-26. 10: He treasures the EIGHT OF ARROWS in Tarot; 11: He sings B in the eleventh octave; 12: As Uranus of Bacchus, He rules the eighth leap of Herb-Mastery; and also the last pa’limpaelh in the Age of Sagittarius, ca. 8300 – 8480 C.E.
We light the first of the five invisible candles of the Flowery Crown of the Blue Planter.
Today we honor the herb of Sage, which was reputed to regulate the flow of blood, the special “water” of the Forestress; it is also traditionally an empathy-plant, flourishing while its owner thrives, and withering in hard times.
This is the day of celebrating the Forestress, ShUNh, ShAWWANh, ShAWNhAI, or ShAWAINh (Samhain/Shamhna/Shoney); we acknowledge her Mastery by calling out to ShAWAINh or ShAWNhAI to favor the people for the next year, while standing in Her waters and pouring ale into them. A brief moment of silence in Her grove is then followed by a night of drink and dance.
Today we prepare the “Lamb’s Wool” (La Mas Ubhal; day of the Apple fruit) drink, bruising roasted apples and mixing them with ale or milk: The apples must be purple-red! Today we bob for apples and other fruit in “Lamb’s wool” or a tub of water. The first (woman) to come up with the apple in her mouth plays the part of the Virgin Mother Enchantress, who dies today of choking on seeds (Snow White, Persephone): possibly of Pomegranate, or of (magenta) Apple, or Cherry, the violet-red fruit of the Forestress. Magenta-robed Foresters and Joiners bear the green-gold bier and image of the Maiden-Mother on their shoulders; ringing platinum or copper-gold bells at each pause.
Ride a Cock-Horse to Hallowtide Cross,
To set the Enchantress upon the Wild Horse,
With rings on Her fingers and bells on Her toes,
have Music wherever She goes.
(The House the Cailleach Built, vv. 1-17.)
OCTOBER 26-28; 8:10 – 8:20 p.m. (C.C.) Red Hunter; (I.C.) Green Priest
The Feast of the Causal Angel of the Quatrefoil and Nasturtium: The Red Hunter enters the Realm of Archangel URIEL. He has attained His 4th Annular Degree, and is to be made Lieutenant, of the Hunters’ 4th (armiger) subcaste. His Quest is to master or merge with the Horse (through alliance with the Centaurs?), and offer it to Uriel in exchange for the Red Quatrefoil. The drama is enacted by the Earl Marshall of the Long Sword and the Countess Marshall of the Horned Altar, who lead the new Lieutenants into the Cinquefoil Garden of St. Uriel. They offer the Animal of the Planter (Horse) to the Deans of St. Uriel’s as toll, and receive the Hunter’s Flowers (Nasturtiums, etc.) as token of admission. This may be seen as the Ceremony of Knighthood, with the new Lieutenants called “Sir,” and given the four-petalled “(Blood-)Rose Cross” as Emblem of their admission as Subalterns in the Company (Companion: “with bread;” the Gardener’s term) of Knights Rosicrucian or Knights of the Rose Quatrefoil. Also called the Knights of the Garden, Garten, Garth, or Garter: Blue-Mantle, thigh- or knee-girt, etc.

As this is the feast following the death of the Enchantress, we might say that the Horse is brought to ride Her into the Underworld:
Ride a Cock-Horse to
To set the Enchantress upon the Wild Horse,
With rings on Her fingers and bells on Her toes,
She shall have Music wherever She goes.
Bell horses, bell horses,
What time o’day?
Eight o’clock, nine o’clock,
Time to away.

Deans’ Response (Book of Lights V:10):

Another version of the Diviners’ Offering:
AZHUR UAJUR ATHANhDJUR DJUROI; UTTARh ZHULENDJURhOETHA AILEURUMhANhTHIU RUDJE! (I bring the Thunderbolt; thou plantest the Rose of Flower-Divination!)
(Blend of Hypo-Ionian and Aeolian; G & A: G-A, G-A, G-G-A F-G-A, G-G A-F-G-G-A, G-G-A-F-G-A; this was remembered as c-A, c-A, c-c-A d-c-A, etc., and became Ring-a-Round-a-Rosie.”) This is indeed a good time for playing “Ring-a-Round-a-Rosie:”
(A Bosket full of Roses)
(The Bolt falls DOWN!)
A traditional love-divination to be practiced on Hallowe’en is to take two roses and twine them together, naming one for oneself and one for one’s sweetheart. Then one recites this verse:
Twine, twine, and intertwine,
Let my love be wholly mine.
If his heart be kind and true,
Deeper grows his rose’s hue.
